Mahjong: Best Classic Mahjong For Mobile

Mahjong is the great king of puzzle games that appeared in China around 100 years ago. Today it’s one of the most popular games for mobile devices and browsers. This version by Noodle Games is one of the most downloaded Mahjong installments on Google Play and App Store.

Graphics/Sound – 9/10

The default version of this Mahjong game looks sooth and presents high-quality animation with natural sound effects. But you can change its appearance! The full game includes dozens of unlockable skins for tiles that feature various traditional and custom arts. You can select from the marine, tattoo, jewels, sweets, and many other themes. Unfortunately, there’s no option to upload handmade skin-packs. Another disappointment for me is that I can’t change backgrounds. This feature could be very useful for adding up the difficulty of the gameplay. On the other hand, nothing distracts you from playing.

Interface and Controls – 9/10

Noodle Games Mahjong features a green cloth canvas and basic mobile game user interface that’s both good-looking and convenient. The tiles are big enough for flawless matching. If you have massive fingertips as I do, use pinch to zoom gesture. It works like zooming photos in the gallery. As a result, you can tap tiles in a more convenient size. The gameboard is responsive, and I didn’t catch any bugs while completing over a hundred levels. Although everything is fine with the game, ad providers integrated messy adds that are almost impossible to skip because of the fake skipping button. This may work differently in different regions, so don’t worry.

Gameplay – 10/10

What can be better than a good game of Mahjong? It’s a relaxing experience that can help you reload your brain and train it at the same time. Scientists have proved that 10 minutes of Mahjong every day can help your grey matter remain young and fast much longer. This happens due to blood circulation boosting caused by the gameplay. This particular game recreates the classic puzzle in its best format. You are offered to complete over 900 challenging levels that are split into sections by the rising level of difficulty. It was a surprise for me, but all levels are unlocked from the very beginning so that you can choose any of them. That’s awesome because it’s very exciting to test your skills and progress by playing on the most hardcore stages.

Lasting Appeal – 10/10

Unlike other Mahjong games that I’ve tested before, this title doesn’t limit your actions at all. As a result, you can shuffle tiles if you get stuck for an unlimited number of times. Besides, there is no time limit and infinite free “deny” button.

Conclusion

Mahjong is a puzzle game for those players who value their time and wish to develop their brains all the time. It offers flexible gameplay and customizable interface. Along with no limits for actions, it makes Mahjong by Noodle Games a perfect conundrum. You can get it for Android 4.1, iOS 9.0, and all higher versions. It’s available for free unless you want an ad-free version.
